Follow-up of Pregnancies with Microprolactinomas

Aim:

Microprolactinomas are the most common adenomas in pituitary. It present to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics with complaints like amenorrhea, galactorrhea and infertility. In this study, we aimed to compare normal pregnant women and the pregnant women who have microprolactinoma.

Method:

The study was conducted between two groups in which microprolactinoma was formed in some cases and in the control group in patients with normal pregnancy.

Results:

Prolactin levels were significantly higher in the first two trimesters of pregnancy compared to the control group (p<0.05). In the last trimester, prolactin levels were not significantly different between the two groups. (p>0.05).

Conclusions:

Microprolactinoma during pregnancy is considered safe for mother and baby provided that close clinical follow-up and if necessary, starting bromocriptine treatment.
