Aim:

Time management means planning our social life and physical and cultural activities together. People who know how to use time appropriately, are aware of their priorities and make plans to "use time to reach the goal in the fastest way", which is accepted as the success criterion of time. Planning provides various contributions to order people's lives. Failure to plan the time results in a decrease in academic success, not being able to devote enough time to our other personal and social activities, and decreasing satisfaction from life. Our aim is to evaluate the leisure time activities and management of the students who receive health-related undergraduate education at Trakya University.

Method:

A questionnaire consisting of 80 questions including socio-demographic information, information about how they spend their free time, Leisure Time Management Scale was applied to 853 people participating in our study by face-to-face interviews.

Results:

Participants consisted of 291 (34%) males and 562 (66%) females. Of the participants in our study, 40.6% (n = 346) were Faculty of Medicine students, 9.6% (n = 82) were Faculty of Dentistry students, 10.2% (n = 87) were Faculty of Pharmacy students and 39.6% (n = 338) of them were students of the Faculty of Health Sciences. No significant difference was found between gender and leisure management. Participants with higher physical, cultural and artistic activity participation had higher scores in determining goals and using leisure time with method. It was observed that as the monthly expenses of the students increased, the leisure programming sub-dimension was negatively affected.

Conclusions:

Young individuals may ignore their health and do not volunteer to see a doctor unless they have to. Periodic health examinations help young people to move towards activities appropriate for their gender and age. Periodic health examinations are a great opportunity to reach young people.
